About me
My name is Jess O'Hanley and I have been living and teaching internationally for the past 10 years. I am currently a grade 5 teacher at the Canadian Academy, in Kobe, Japan, a fully accredited PYP school. I teach children from all around the world with a vast amount of knowledge and perspectives. I love facilitating authentic provocations that inspire students to take action personally, locally and globally. I also have a passion teaching inquiry based math and incorporating as much digital learning into my classroom as possible. I have recently started working on a master's degree in educational technology through the University of British Columbia (UBCMET)!
My Passions
Besides teaching, I live life as an expat to the fullest. I have travelled to almost 40 countries and have lived in 5, including Canada, Japan, China, Australia and Kenya. I love exploring new places, meeting locals and diving into traditional foods. In my spare time, I love wandering around the amazing city of Beijing, photographing my adventures, creating digital art, cooking, reading, watching documentaries, and playing with animals, big and small. I also love spending my free time in the summer months with my family back home in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
My GoalsI want to live internationally for as long as possible. I want to continue meeting amazing students from all around the world. I want to see students taking action and become empathetic, global citizens. I want to always work in a collaborative community where I am motivated to learn and grow professionally.
